The book itself is a sculpture by Serban Ionescu, as its 68-page oversized board book format has been precisely printed and die-cut to mimic the labyrinthine outlines and dazzling colors found in steel sculptures. from this prolific New York-born and Romanian-born. artist.
It also functions as a play, written in three acts by Serban's fellow artist and close friend, James English Leary, who fully embraces Serban's artistic approach and explores his ideas in a series of highly absurd events. Bringing together pieces from between 2017 and 2021, a glimpse of A THING ON A TABLE IN A HOUSE transports you directly into the anthropomorphic world of Serban, one that stretches on both sides of the ever-fine line that separates furniture and sculptures.
