HAPPY MARFA-BIRTHDAY TO US!
Hello friends, old and new. This issue marks a very special anniversary: our tenth birthday. A decade of decline. To celebrate the occasion, we are willing to share with you some deep and meaningful contemplations from the bathroom.
After ten painful years of emailing Sofia Coppola, we finally met her in New York. We then traveled north of the border to visit Beverly Glenn-Copeland and his wife Elizabeth in Ontario, Canada, which left us spiritually uplifted and energized for the rest of the issue. Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, actress Vicky Krieps curled up in a Parisian living room on an elaborate couch and Dr. Orna Guralnik stopped by London for a photo op, dressed as a bride.
It wouldn't be an anniversary without celebrating some precious memories, so we're welcoming back some familiar faces: Chloë Sevigny dressed up nicely (sans lobster this time) and MARFAVOURITE supermodel Lily McMenamy posed carefully among some avant-garde artwork at Kettle 'sYard. The icing on the cake is Clara Cullen, pregnant MARFRIEND, naked in front of Michèle Lamy. The perfect time for our MARFANNIVERSARY.
Although we have worked hard over the years and settled into our luxurious new residence, we still can't shake our weakness for the IKEA Billy bookshelf. To help us organize these new shelves, we enlisted the help of some lovely men from the ICA before speaking to artists Roman Signer, Omar El Lahib and Ben Fosker, directors Hal Hartley and Brandon Cronenberg... all topped off with a recital deprived of our MARFA muse, maestro Andrea Bocelli. The twentieth edition, very special, has a lot to offer.
Added to all this are the contributions of Takashi Homma, Linda Engelhardt, Vanessa Reid, Senta Simond, Bianca Raggi, Alexandra Gordienko, EstherTheaker, Rachel Chandler, Makram Bitar, Jess Cole, Max Pearmain, Omaima Salem, Jonathan Frantini, Karoline Robl, Thistle Brown, Vincent Le Chapelain, Max Farago, Jack Day, Mark Borthwick, Danny Reed & Valeria Herklotz.
Here's to ten more years of erratic elections with shamelessly chic results xx
