In 2007, the first issues of Monocle magazine hit newsstands around the world. His primary goal was to commission original photography to capture the world on film, on the ground and in the moment. In the years since, Monocle has continued to document through its unique lens everything from embassies and personal residences to world leaders and cultural stars. Each issue has featured a dedicated Image Expo section that celebrates lesser-known places, obscure events and curious people through truly exceptional photography. Syrian cities, French legionnaires, Thai festival-goers, brutalist architecture and private clubs have graced the magazine's pages.

The Monocle Book of Photography collects the best of these visual reports from an archive that has been built over a decade and a half. The book, a magnificent linen-bound edition, also includes original reports on each of the commissions, as well as first-hand testimonials from the photographers and publishers involved.
