Hand-built motorcycles, surfing and an embroidered work jacket.
Deus Ex Machina is a clothing brand born in Sydney in 2006 around custom motorcycles, surfing and custom culture. At ECRU we carry its autumn-winter 2026/27 collection: jackets, shirts, sweatshirts, T-shirts, caps and accessories.
In short
What is it? An Australian clothing brand that started with hand-built motorcycles and surfboards. Here we mean the brand, not the Latin expression or the film.
What is at ECRU? Seven jackets, including the Address Workwear, the Earls Work and the Ryder Work bomber; the Maxwell Check shirt, sweatshirts, graphic and long-sleeve tees, two caps, key rings and a pin set.

01 · The brand
Motorcycles, surf and custom culture
Deus Ex Machina was born in Sydney in 2006, founded by Dare Jennings and Carby Tuckwell. It started with hand-built motorcycles and surfboards and grew as a way of celebrating a creative culture rather than as a parts shop. Its stores, which the brand calls Temples, mix showroom, café, workshop and shop, like the one in Camperdown, Sydney, or the one in Canggu, Bali.
That mix shows in the clothes. The Address T-shirts carry the name of a place —Camperdown, Venice, Biarritz, Harajuku— next to the logo; the Mudflap has a vintage, garage-like finish; the Piston and Deep Cut key rings turn mechanical parts into something for your keys, and the Records pin set is a reminder that Deus also has a music label.

04 · How to wear it
With denim, black or earth tones
This season's jackets have a regular, relaxed or boxy cut, and several adjust with snaps at the hem and cuffs; they work open over a T-shirt or closed over a sweatshirt. The Address Workwear and the Unchained Trucker Washed Black look particularly good with jeans; the boxy Marsden Hunting Green Check leaves room for a sweatshirt underneath.
The Downtown Brown of the Deep Cut and the Unfinished goes with beige, black and denim, and Racing Green repeats across jackets, T-shirts and sweatshirts, which makes it easy to mix pieces. If you want a roomier fit in the long-sleeve Venice tee, the brand recommends going one size up.
