Materials

PUrTEX∞ is an ultra-durable, custom-made technical material. Ucon Acrobatics has developed this progressive material over several years—unsurpassed. Longer lifespan, reduced thickness, and a smaller ecological footprint make it a step toward circularity. It's made from recycled textile waste and finished with a rigid, solvent-free polyurethane (PU) layer. The PU foam layer has a cross-linked structure, so its functional aspects are similar to molded rubber. The high performance has been demonstrated in test results. The surface adhesion is four times better, and scratch resistance has even improved more than 100 times compared to conventional artificial leather. Furthermore, PU production is free of solvents such as DMF and VOCs. CO2e is reduced by more than 50%, energy is reduced by more than 40%, and it is primarily sourced from renewable sources. For the base material, post-consumer textile waste is transformed into recycled PET yarn in a chemical recycling process. The resource-saving dope-dye process is applied even before weaving the interlock fabric. The resulting savings are enormous: water consumption is reduced by up to 90%, chemical consumption by up to 80%, and energy consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 50%.
