El Típico de Tenerife Guachinchito T-shirt
“Irse de guachinche” is a curious expression in itself. It is not simply meeting for lunch or dinner: we give it a higher status because it is an experience, something very distinctive and special.
There is much more to this simple plan: get together with family or friends and head north. A collective experience with its own ritual: tackling impossibly steep climbs, losing phone reception, a car smelling of clutch, following signs hand-painted on wood, parking on a patch of dirt repurposed as an improvised car park … and views that fill your soul. All to end up in an old-fashioned dining room, with a quarter-litre of house wine served in reused glass juice or soft-drink bottles, nibbling bread and cheese while deciding what to order. And thinking: Oosss! This is a proper guachinche: lupin beans and flies.
This design pays tribute to all of that. A kind of comic with independent panels that you do not read, but feel. A small story that expresses a shared truth recognised by anyone who has ever been to a guachinche.
The main scene is inspired by the real slopes of La Matanza, La Victoria and other northern areas. I took the liberty of drawing an invented yet perfectly familiar landscape: typical houses, people at the entrance, cars parked wherever possible on the embankment, a little vegetable plot, banana plants peeping over a boundary wall … and in the distance, a sea of clouds crowned by Teide.
On the front of the T-shirt, a chickpea surfs on a spoon: a nod to one of the most distinctive dishes found in every guachinche. As a joke, it lets out a fart, because everyone knows what happens afterwards. The inscription “media de garbanzas” completes the little design.
This is the first design of 2025, already celebrating ten years of El Típico de Tenerife. So I included a very special nod: the comic-strip character slips into one of the scenes. An Easter egg joining the project’s two souls: comics and clothing designs.
A special edition that did not really need explaining. Because if you understand it, you are from here too.
All garments are made artisanally, individually screen-printed by hand in Tenerife. All T-shirts and sweatshirts are premium heavyweight garments in 100% organic cotton. Each collection consists of limited, exclusive pieces; once they sell out, the same colours are not repeated. That makes each garment something special.
All hold GOTS, PETA, OEKO-TEX and GRS certifications.
Shipping and delivery
Mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands: €3.95 for orders under €49 and free from €49. Standard shipping: 3–12 business days. Express shipping: €16.95 and 2–5 business days.
Europe and the rest of the world: rates, free-shipping thresholds and delivery times depend on the destination. Consolidated orders require 3–7 business days for preparation and transfer to our Madrid warehouse; from there, delivery within Europe takes approximately 5–20 business days. For DAP destinations, import taxes, duties and fees are payable by the recipient.
