Carhartt WIP Size Guide: T-Shirts, Shirts and Jackets

Carhartt WIP is the skate and lifestyle branch of Carhartt, the legendary American workwear brand. Its garments combine professional durability with urban relaxed style. Here we help you find your perfect size in t-shirts, shirts, jackets and accessories. Most Carhartt WIP garments have a generous and relaxed fit, ideal for moving freely.

Carhartt WIP Fit

Relaxed Fit (Standard): Most Carhartt WIP t-shirts, shirts and jackets have a relaxed cut. They fall loosely from shoulders and waist, inspired by workwear functionality. This is the brand's characteristic style.

Slim Fit: Some models, especially basic t-shirts and some jackets, offer a more fitted cut. It follows body shapes without being tight. Less common than relaxed.

How to Measure Your Size

For t-shirts and shirts, measure:

• Chest width: Measure horizontally across the chest (under the armpit), without squeezing. This is the most important measurement in Carhartt WIP.
• Total length: From the neck to the hem of the garment. Carhartt WIP t-shirts tend to be longer than standard.
• Shoulder width: From point to point of the shoulder. Carhartt WIP makes generous shoulders.

For jackets, measure:

• Chest width: Measure across the chest (the most critical measurement).
• Jacket length: From the neck to the hem. Carhartt WIP maintains functional lengths (not very short).
• Sleeve length: From shoulder to wrist. Carhartt sleeves tend to be slightly longer.

Size Big or Small? Fit Tips

Choose a smaller size if:

• You prefer a tighter fit (even though most Carhartt WIP is relaxed by default).
• You're shorter than average and want the garment not to be too long.
• You normally wear size S/M and prefer a more defined fit.

Choose a larger size if:

• You want maximum space and movement (pure workwear style).
• Your chest measurement falls between two sizes (round up).
• You prefer layering (clothes under jackets).
• You're taller and want the length to flatter you.

Materials and Care

Carhartt WIP uses high-quality materials: pure cotton, cotton canvas, and blended fabrics. Many garments are pre-shrunk, which means shrinkage after washing is minimal (maximum 1–2%).

• Wash in cold or lukewarm water (maximum 30°C) to preserve colors.
• Carhartt canvas (jackets, pants) can be washed in lukewarm water without issues.
• Hang to dry; heavy fabrics maintain their shape naturally.
• Jackets and canvas garments gain patina with use — this is normal and desired.

Why Carhartt WIP?

Carhartt WIP combines the durability of over 150 years of workwear heritage with Scandinavian urban design. Every garment is built to last: reinforced seams, resistant fabrics, functional details. Perfect for skating, layering and a casual lifestyle that values quality.
