The Lauretta Shirt Dress combines the classic shape of a shirt dress with a hand-finished Batik shell print. The Lauretta shape features a button-down front, a sharp shirt collar, and a cute bow belt paired with a longer skirt.
What is batik?
Batik is a wax resist dyeing technique applied to fabric. Batik is made by printing the wax design onto the fabric using a copper stamp called a cap. The applied wax design resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to selectively color by soaking the fabric in one color, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colors are desired. Due to the handcrafted nature of this process, each Batik printed item differs slightly, making it unique and very special.
